Overview

A detail-oriented Shipping/Receiving Specialist responsible for coordinating the accurate receipt, inspection, storage, and shipment of materials and products. Ensures inventory accuracy, maintains shipping documentation, operates material handling equipment safely, and supports efficient warehouse operations. Collaborates with internal teams, carriers, and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, compliance with company procedures, and a high level of customer service while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

 

Basic Duties

 

 
  • Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities against packing slips and purchase orders.
  • Inspect materials and products for damage, accuracy, and quality.
  • Unload, move, store, and stage materials using forklifts and other material handling equipment.
  • Prepare, package, and ship outbound orders according to company and customer requirements.
  • Create and maintain shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Enter inventory transactions into warehouse or ERP systems.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with cycle counts and physical inventories.
  • Coordinate with carriers, suppliers, and internal departments regarding shipments and deliveries.
  • Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and organized.
  • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, orderly work environment.
  • Report shipping discrepancies, damaged goods, or inventory issues to supervision.
  • Support production and operations teams by ensuring timely material availability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 1-3 years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehouse, logistics, or material handling operations preferred.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely.
  • Basic computer skills, including experience with inventory management or ERP systems.
  • Ability to read and understand shipping documents, packing slips, bills of lading, and purchase orders.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 50 pounds and perform physical warehouse duties.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Forklift certification or the ability to become certified.
  • Experience with SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, or other ERP systems.
  • Experience with inventory control and cycle counting.
  • Experience coordinating freight shipments with common carriers and logistics providers.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety practices and OSHA requirements.

Payrate: $22.00 - $24.00 hours per hour

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

This position works in an office environment, shop environment and may be subject to both inside and outside conditions. May, on a continuous basis, sit at a desk for a long period of time; answer telephone in the yard supporting delivery operations. Noise level in the shop/yard environment is usually moderate, and the noise level in the office environment is usually low. Must be flexible to work varying schedules and hours as needed. Occasional local travel may be required. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
