Overview

A Facilities Maintenance Worker performs a variety of routine and semiskilled tasks involving general maintenance of facilities, equipment, and grounds. They diagnose, repair, recondition, and adjust equipment as required to service Facility minimize contracted services.  Also, responsible for inspection and maintenance of safety equipment.

 

Basic Duties

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Maintains a positive attitude and customer service demeanor toward all employees, while performing services on the facility.
  • Must have good working knowledge of 120-volt, single phase and 208/480V, 3-phase electrical equipment. Also, should possess familiarity with other low voltage systems, like security wiring/equipment.
  • Mechanical abilities to service compressed air systems, water piping, drainage systems, building lighting systems, exhaust and fresh air systems, HVAC systems, parking lot maintenance, general roof repairs and ground maintenance (concrete, asphalt, general landscaping and woodwork).
  • Attends training sessions as required.
  • Works in a neat, orderly, and safe manner, constantly seeking to improve methods of work and the safety of others.
  • Maintains a set of tools required for job performance.
  • Utilizes computer system to keep up with work orders and other documentation.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts on machinery/equipment.
  • Disassembles components and clean parts.
  • Inspects components to ensure proper parts are being reused to minimize costs.
  • Creates repair estimates and submit information to substantiate quotes and estimates.
  • Assist with requesting quote, managing visits from outside contractors for work on the facility or equipment.
  • Maintains buildings daily, weekly, and monthly safety inspection needs.
  • Maintains safe walkway paths for employees and customers during inclement weather.
  • Assist with emergency janitorial needs, as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to (3+ years) construction or facility maintenance trades experience.
  • Prior forklift/scissor lift operation experience preferred. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to safely operate various hand/power tools & equipment, (i.e., drill press, power saws, powered equipment, pipe bender, scissor lift and forklift occasionally).
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Payrate: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

The position involves working in an office, warehouse, and shop environment, with occasional outdoor work exposed to weather elements, paint, chemicals, and electrical components. It includes occasional climbing on ladders and machinery up to 15’ high, walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs. The use of approved safety equipment is mandatory. The noise level may range from moderate to high. Flexibility is required during peak seasons, including overtime work. Occasional local travel may be required. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
