Overview

The Data Quality & Analytics Specialist will play a key role in ensuring the integrity, accessibility, and usability of business data across our Caterpillar Power Systems dealership operations. Our business focuses on selling, packaging, and servicing power generation equipment and associated products for data centers, industrial facilities, and other critical applications. This position combines analytical expertise with a strong focus on data quality management and data collection tools, like CAT Inspect form design. The ideal candidate will drive business insights from the silver data layer, maintain high data accuracy standards, and optimize data collection processes through effective CAT Inspect form governance. This role operates across two enterprise systems — Microsoft NAXT ERP (Dynamics 365) and Global Shop ERP — both integrated into Microsoft Fabric, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and harmonization of business data across systems.

Basic Duties

Key Initial Responsibilities

  1. Business Insight Generation
  • Consolidate and normalize data across multiple ERP and data lake environments to provide unified business insights.
  • Analyze data from the silver layer to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that inform business strategy.
  • Apply advanced analytical techniques and data visualization to present insights that drive decision-making at all levels.
  • Generate strategic insights that support long-term business planning and growth initiatives.
  1. Data Quality, Cleansing, and Governance
  • Establish data quality standards across NAXT and Global Shop ERP systems, ensuring alignment in master data (customers, equipment, parts, projects, and inventory).
  • Own data quality processes across key systems and ensure that silver layer data is accurate, complete, and reliable.
  • Collaborate with ERP administrators and key team members to synchronize data tables and prevent duplicate or mismatched records.
  • Develop and implement data validation, deduplication, and cleanup routines to maintain trusted data sources.
  • Partner with IT and data engineering teams to define and enforce data quality standards, metrics, and controls.
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies and anomalies proactively.
  1. Data Collection Tools & CAT Inspect Form Management
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) for CAT Inspect and other data collection tools such as Microsoft Power Apps, Microsoft Forms, and SharePoint Lists.
  • Design, configure, test, and deploy digital forms that improve the accuracy, usability, and timeliness of field and shop data capture.
  • Collaborate with operational teams to ensure collected data integrates cleanly into Fabric and ERP systems.
  • Train and support users on form functionality, promoting consistency and standardization across business units.
  1. Strategic Reporting and Visualization
  • Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports that serve as critical tools for business decision-making.
  • Ensure reports are accurate, user-friendly, and aligned with strategic business objectives.
  • Regularly update and refine dashboards to reflect the latest data and evolving business priorities.
  • Develop cross-functional dashboards (e.g., equipment uptime, job costing, quality metrics, production throughput) by combining data from NAXT, Global Shop, and CAT Inspect.
  1. Advanced Analytics and AI Integration
  • Utilize AI agents and machine learning models to predict future business trends and outcomes.
  • Integrate AI-driven insights into business processes to enable proactive and data-informed decisions.
  • Develop predictive and prescriptive models that support strategic planning and risk management.
  • Apply AI and machine learning to predict equipment failure trends, production throughput, or supply-chain risk, leveraging Microsoft Fabric AI models and Copilot capabilities.
  1. Logistics and Operational Data Integration
  • Integrate logistics, transportation, and material movement data from NAXT and Global Shop ERP systems to provide full visibility of inbound and outbound equipment and components.
  • Develop dashboards that track shipments, delivery timelines, and yard or warehouse activity to improve operational planning and resource utilization.
  • Monitor and ensure data accuracy in freight, inventory transfers, and transportation cost tracking.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics and Packaging teams to align data capture with operational workflows.
  1. Real-Time Analytics and Transalytic Reporting
  • Leverage Transalytic capabilities to provide real-time insights that enable immediate business actions.
  • Ensure seamless integration of real-time data into operational workflows for enhanced agility and responsiveness.
  • Implement Power BI DirectLake and Synapse Real-Time Hub features for near-instant reporting from Fabric’s silver and gold layers.
  1. Performance Tracking and Strategy Refinement
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of business actions and strategies based on data insights.
  • Analyze performance metrics to refine analytical models, reports, and strategies.
  • Establish feedback loops to ensure insights lead to measurable improvements in business outcomes.
  1. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
  • Collaborate closely with business stakeholders in all Power Systems departments to understand strategic data needs and ensure insights are actionable.
  • Present complex data insights and recommendations to executive and non-technical audiences in a clear, compelling manner.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Power Rental, Packaging, Engineering, Quality, and Product Support teams to ensure analytics outputs reflect ground-truth operational realities.
