Overview

The Facility Maintenance Worker is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, reconditioning, and adjusting a wide range of equipment and facilities. This role aims to significantly reduce the need for contracted services by providing in-house expertise and maintenance. The worker is also responsible for completing detailed paperwork for each assigned task, ensuring a record of issues and resolutions. This role will be for our brand new facility that will be opening in the very near future.

Basic Duties

including, but not limited to

  • Must have a robust working knowledge of 120 volts and single-phase electrical systems.
  • Mechanical abilities to service and maintain various systems including compressed air systems, water piping, drainage systems, building lighting, exhaust and fresh air systems, HVAC, HV, MAU systems, parking lot, general roof repairs, and grounds maintenance (concrete, asphalt, landscaping, and woodwork).
  • Responsible for the maintenance and operational status of parts washers, wash bay equipment, air compressors, sandblasters, hose equipment, and other essential machinery.
  • Monitoring and maintaining chemical supplies such as soap/PH levels in Mart washers and rust inhibitors, refilling hand towels, soaps in shop sinks, and washrooms.
  • Performing small electrical and plumbing repairs as needed.
  • Ordering necessary materials and coordinating with external contractors for facility upkeep and safety.
  • Training helpers on equipment use and overseeing facility maintenance tasks.
  • Attends required training sessions to stay updated with technical and industry changes.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe working environment, always seeking to improve methods and safety.
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude and serves as a role model for other employees.
  • Maintains personal tools required for job performance and cares for company machines/equipment.
  • Utilizes dealer computer systems effectively for work orders and documentation.
  • Tests, diagnoses, and adjusts equipment to address and rectify failures.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts and disassembles components for cleaning and inspection.
  • Creates repair estimates and submits information for quotes and estimates.
  • Assists the Company in achieving its goals and performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE

    • High School education including a specialized technical course or equivalent years of experience as a technician preferred.
    • 3-5 years of direct mechanical experience.
    • A combination of education and experience will be considered.
    • Must possess a valid Class D Driver’s License with a clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle Report will be performed on final candidate).

    SKILLS/ABILITIES:

    • Proficiency in operating various hand/power tools & equipment (e.g., drill press, power saws, powered equipment, pipe bender, scissor lift, and forklift).
    • Fluent in spoken and written English with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

    The position involves working in an office, warehouse, and shop environment, with occasional outdoor work exposed to weather elements, paint, chemicals, and electrical components. It includes occasional climbing on ladders and machinery up to 15’ high, walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs. The use of approved safety equipment is mandatory. The noise level may range from moderate to high. Flexibility is required during peak seasons, including overtime work. Occasional local travel may be required. The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
